As the sun sits in the sky with the official kickoff of the summer season. There’s no better time to shed light on poor eyesight and vision correction than July. It’s no surprise that the RSA (Refractive Surgery Alliance) Executive Committee has designated that July be henceforward known as Global Vision Correction Month. We like that.

The entrance of Global Vision Correction Monthcorresponds to an important date for eye doctors. Ophthalmologists and patients alike: It’s the 20-year anniversary of LASIK being approved in the United States by the FDA Advisory Panels. That’s right. LASIK has been officially FDA approved to correct vision problems for 20 years! And it’s already the top procedure in the world.

Say ‘Hello’ to LASIK and SMILE

We’re feeling particularly excited about this new “holiday”, because our very own Dr. Robert T. Linwas an early pioneer and trailblazer in the field, patenting his trademark Micro-LASIK® procedure. Micro-LASIK® creates a thin flap in the eye to help preserve cornea strength and decrease post-surgery Dry Eye. Now, two decades later, IQ Laser Vision has completed over 300,000 procedures–and transformed our patients’ vision and their lives for the better. So, it’s kind of a proud parent moment for us! As we see all of our happy patients living the lives they always wanted to.

But that’s not all—because with all the love for vision correction awareness going on. We are also proud of the fact that we’re the most experienced SMILECenter on the West Coast. What does SMILE have to do with vision correction? SMILEis one of the latest advances in refractive eye surgery. It doesn’t even require making a flap in the eye, thus makes vision correction possible even for Dry Eye sufferers. And it’s FDA approved in the U.S. to treat nearsightedness and astigmatism!

Safe, sound and salient

Too many people hold off on ever achieving the vision of their dreams. They feel afraid at the thought of a laser coming anywhere near their eyes. But if these two decades have shown nothing else, they’ve proven that PRK, LASIK and SMILE are safe and highly effectiveat addressing common vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

So if you’ve been holding off on fixing your vision because you were afraid it might exacerbate your Dry Eyes, we’re sending hope out into the ether. Because thanks to ZEISS SMILE, more people have more options to become the best versions of themselves.
