Why Smile?

SMILE is the next generation of laser vision and is a FLAPLESS procedure

Although LASIK has been a great procedure for millions of people, the most common risk is associated with complications related to the flap that is created prior to the excimer laser treatment.

Proven technology

Although relatively new to the US market, SMILE has been available in Europe for over 10 years. It is the fastest growing procedure in the world, with over 3 million procedures performed.

SMILE preserves nerves in the cornea

With SMILE, the incision is smaller than the LASIK incision and leaves the cornea stronger. Creating a LASIK flap involves a large incision that extends almost around the entire cornea. BENEFIT: Less dry eye symptoms.

One-step, one-laser procedure

One of the main differences between SMILE and LASIK or PRK is it is a one-laser procedure. Unlike PRK and LASIK, there is no use of an excimer laser during a SMILE procedure.
