What is a EVO ICL?

An ICL is an implantable contact lens. It functions similarly to a contact lens, but instead of putting the ICL in daily, you have it implanted in your eye.

By choosing the EVO ICL, you’ll change how light refracts in your eye, correcting visual errors. The EVO Visian ICL corrects nearsightedness and nearsightedness with astigmatism.

For some, this makes for a better vision correction option than LASIK, as LASIK surgery can only correct up to -11 diopters of nearsightedness. If you’re farsighted, the EVO ICL is not the right vision correction procedure for you, as it’s only FDA-approved to treat nearsightedness and astigmatism.

How is the EVO ICL Different from Other Vision Correction Procedures?

Alternatively, the EVO ICL can treat up to -16 diopters of nearsightedness and 4 diopters of astigmatism. Inserting the EVO ICL into the eye differs from other procedures, like LASIK.

When you have the Visian ICL inserted, your surgeon will place it through a small incision between the iris and the natural lens of the eye. Unlike cataract surgery, when you have the Visian ICL inserted, it doesn’t involve removing the natural lens.

Instead, the Visian ICL sits in your eye alongside your lens and your iris. Once inserted, your surgeon at IQ Laser Vision will make necessary adjustments to ensure that the Visian ICL is in the correct orientation.

You can have the Visian ICL procedure performed on both eyes. In many cases, it’s an outpatient procedure. The procedure only takes a few minutes to complete and leaves you with the ability to see clearly! The best part, of course, is you can finally look forward to visual freedom without glasses and contact lenses.

Another way that the Visian ICL is different from other vision correction procedures is it’s reversible. For whatever reason, at any time, you can have the Visian ICL removed.

Being reversible makes the Visian ICL incredibly attractive for those needing a stronger prescription during cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange later in life.

Introducing the EVO Visian ICL

At IQ Laser Vision, it’s our pleasure to announce we now offer the EVO Visian ICL! The EVO Visian ICL is the latest in implantable collamer lens technology. This lens can correct a wide range of refractive errors, meaning that the team at IQ Laser Vision can help more patients see clearly and embrace better vision.

The EVO Visian ICL can correct up to -20 diopters of nearsightedness and can correct or reduce a range of -3 to -20 diopters of myopic astigmatism. It can also treat astigmatism at a range of 1 diopter to 4 diopters.

How is the EVO Visian ICL Different than the Visian ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL recently received FDA approval, providing more patients than ever before with the ability to see clearly. To be a candidate for the EVO Visian ICL, you must be between the ages of 21 and 45.

The new EVO Visian ICL is virtually undetectable and doesn’t replace your natural lens. You can choose the EVO Visian ICL because your surgeon simply places it in front of your natural lens.

The most significant difference between the EVO Visian ICL and the Visian ICL is that the EVO Visian ICL does not use a peripheral iridotomy. With the Visian ICL, you needed to have a peripheral iridotomy performed two weeks before the procedure. With the new EVO Visian ICL, there is no longer a need for this procedure, making it faster for both surgeons and patients

Who is a good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL?

Many patients may be good candidates for the EVO Visian ICL. Some may be a better fit for the EVO Visian ICL than LASIK. You may be a good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL if the following apply to you:

  • You’re between the ages of 21 and 45
  • You have moderate to high degrees of nearsightedness between -3 D to -20 D with or without astigmatism
  • Your prescription hasn’t changed more than 0.5D for a year
  • You’ve been told you aren’t a good LASIK candidate due to dry eyes or having thinner corneas
  • You don’t have a history of eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, iritis, or glaucoma
  • You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

The only way to know if you’re a good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL is to schedule a consultation at IQ Laser Vision!

What are the Benefits of the EVO Visian ICL?

There are many benefits to these vision correction procedures if you’re interested in either the Visian ICL or the EVO Visian ICL.

The Procedure is Fast

The EVO Visian ICL procedure is fast, taking only a few minutes for your eye surgeon to complete. Recovery from this refractive procedure is also quick, with most patients returning to work the next day and seeing an immediate improvement in their vision.

Reduced Dependence on Glasses and Contact Lenses

Many patients that choose the EVO Visian ICL find that they no longer need to wear glasses and contact lenses. It’s possible to achieve visual freedom! The EVO Visian ICL helps correct certain refractive errors, allowing you to finally attain the vision you’ve always wanted.

You Can Have the EVO Visian ICL Removed

What you do with your vision is in your hands, including changing your mind about the EVO Visian ICL. You can have the Visian ICL removed at any time.

While the EVO Visian ICL has a 99% satisfaction rate among patients, you may find taking it out the right thing to do if your prescription changes.

The Procedure Won’t Reshape Your Cornea

Unlike procedures like LASIK or SMILE, the EVO Visian ICL never reshapes your cornea. If you’ve found out you can’t get LASIK or other vision correction procedures because your corneas are too thin, the EVO Visian ICL is an excellent option.

The EVO Visian ICL is Safe for Dry Eyes

If you have a predisposition to dry eyes, getting a vision correction procedure like LASIK can exacerbate existing symptoms. But the EVO Visian ICL is different because its composition is collamer. Collamer is biocompatible with the chemistry of your eyes.

For people concerned about dry eyes, the EVO Visian ICL is safe and won’t make your symptoms worse.

Although there are many advantages to choosing the Visian ICL or the EVO Visian ICL, they aren’t suitable for everyone. Ready to find out if one of these incredible procedures is a good fit for you?
